Delete your account and data
In short
- You can delete your MovItaly account yourself, in the app, in a couple of taps.
- The account is closed at once: nobody can sign in with it again, and your name, email, password and date of birth are removed from it.
- Your profile, documents, goals, Movito memory and notifications are then deleted.
- A few records stay because the law requires it or because another person is involved. They no longer carry your identity.
- You can also download a copy of your data first. This page is also the deletion page required by Apple and Google.
1. Download your data first
If you want a copy, do this before deleting. In the app open Data and privacy, then Export my data. You get a file with your account details, profile, bookings, journeys, tasks and checklists, deadlines, expenses, consent history, subscription status, documents list, Movito memory, conversations and, if you are a professional, your own client notes. Data that belongs to other people (for example a professional's private notes about you) is not included. A technical copy is also available from the address GET /users/me/export for signed-in users. Bookings and expenses can be exported as CSV or PDF from their screens.
2. How to delete your account
In the app: open Data and privacy, choose Delete account and confirm. For safety we ask you to confirm with your password, and with your two-factor code if you have turned it on. On the web app the steps are the same. If you signed up with Google or Apple and have no password, you confirm in the dialog.
By email: if you cannot sign in, or you never had an account but think we hold data about you, write from the address in question to To be confirmed. We may ask a simple question to check that the request is yours. Guardians of users aged 14 to 17 can write to the same address.
If you are a professional with a booking whose payment or payout is still open, deletion waits: the app tells you so and you can finish or settle the booking first.
3. What happens at once
When you confirm, the account is closed first, in a single step. Your sign-in details are cleared, so you cannot sign in or refresh a session again, and every device is signed out. Your email address becomes a placeholder that cannot receive mail, your password, two-factor secret, linked Google or Apple sign-in, date of birth and guardian email are removed, and your calendar link stops working. The same email address can be used to register again later.
Then we remove, step by step: your documents and the text read from them, your profile, uploaded files, push tokens, notifications, journeys, tasks, checklists, deadlines and Movito memory; your guardian consent records; and what you said to other people in chat, which is replaced by a blank marker. We also remove a professional's private notes about clients that you wrote, and your "not for me" choices in recommendations. Where you signed in with Apple, we ask Apple to revoke the link. If one clean-up step fails, the account stays closed, we record the failure and finish the step ourselves. Movito conversations expire automatically after 90 days.
4. Subscriptions and payments
Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription bought in the Apple App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in the store, or the store will keep billing you. A web subscription paid by Stripe is set to end at the close of the current paid period, with no further renewal. We do not hold your card number, so there is nothing to erase on our side except payment status. Single guides, day passes and points stay with the anonymised account and cannot be recovered after deletion.
5. What we keep, and for how long
Some records stay because the law requires it or because other people are involved:
- Invoices, store orders and bookings that are tied to invoices: 10 years, as Italian accounting and tax rules require. Store orders are pseudonymised so they do not show who you are.
- Messages and bookings that involve another person remain for that person, with your name removed and replaced by a neutral label. Messages that belong to an open report are held until the report is closed.
- Records of what you accepted and when (which version of the terms and privacy policy), so that we can show proof if there is a dispute. They are no longer linked to a name.
- Moderation, safety and audit records for the periods in the retention page.
- Backups: they are not edited. Daily backups expire after 35 days and monthly backups after 365 days, and if one is ever restored we first re-apply every deletion.
We do not use kept records for any other purpose.
6. Time limit
In-app deletion closes your account immediately. For requests by email we answer without undue delay and within one month. If a complex request needs more time, we tell you why before the month ends, as the GDPR allows. When it is finished, we confirm by email to the address you used for the request.
7. Minors and guardians
Users aged 14 to 17 can delete their account in the app in the same way. A parent or guardian can also ask us to delete the account at To be confirmed. When the account of a minor is deleted we also delete the guardian consent records and booking approvals linked to it. See the parental consent notice for how the guardian flow works.
8. Your other rights
Deletion is one of your GDPR rights. You can also ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it or to limit its use. Our controller is Lodato Solutions LLC, and your data is stored in the EU. See the privacy policy for the full list of rights and for how to complain to the Garante or to your own supervisory authority.
