Trafficking and violence: where to get help

Free

Free help, now

These organisations give free information and support. Contact one of them first.

Short answer

Protection and support exist for people who are trafficked, exploited or victims of violence.

Information, not legal advice. MovItaly is not a law firm. Check with the questura or consulate before you act.

If you are in danger now

Call 112. It is free.

Helplines

  • Anti-trafficking line (toll-free): 800 290 290. TO VERIFY before publication.
  • Violence and stalking line: 1522. TO VERIFY before publication.

Your rights

People who are victims of trafficking or serious exploitation can receive protection and social assistance. Trafficking can also be a reason for international protection. Tell the officer or the Commission if this happened to you.

What to do

  1. Go to a safe place and call a helpline. You decide what to share.
  2. Ask for an interpreter and, if you prefer, a person of the same gender.
  3. Contact free legal help (protection-free-help-directory).
