Choosing a program and Universitaly pre-enrollment

Premium

Short answer

How to pick a degree in Italy and complete the Universitaly pre-enrollment that non-EU students need before applying for a study visa.

Information, not legal advice. MovItaly is not a law firm. Check with the questura or consulate before you act.

Who is this for

Non-EU citizens living abroad who want to enrol in an Italian university, AFAM institution (art, music, dance) or other higher education course.

Requirements

  • A secondary school qualification valid for access to university in the country where it was issued (usually 12 years of schooling in total; some countries require a first year of university - check).
  • Language level required by the course: Italian (often B2) or English (often B2) for English-taught programs.
  • Each year the Ministry sets rules, deadlines and quotas for non-EU students living abroad. Check the yearly circular on the MUR and Universitaly sites.
